Watkins Glen

Looking upstream from the Sentry Bridge, one of the first things you notice is this really large hole way up. It goes all the way through a section of the gorge wall that juts out. If this was ever an actual water channel, the volume of water coursing down the gorge must have been truly huge, enough the sweep away the Sentry Bridge totally, and maybe half the town of Watkins Glen as well. So it probably wasn't that, unless from ancient times. Maybe it was man-made for some long-forgotten reason. Anyway, it's impressive. | ||
